Slow and Fast-Changing Dimensions in Hyperion Planning
William Hodges, The Hackett Group
Changing dimensions is a well-known and widely discussed challenge in dimensional data modeling, particularly in the context of data warehousing. A relatively new Essbase feature called “varying attributes” is Oracle’s response to this challenge. Varying attributes are a powerful feature, but this paper is concerned with situations whose requirements go beyond their capabilities.
