ODTUG Kscope17 Recap

Highlights from the week:

Sunday Symposium – We learned directly from the Oracle Product Managers about OAC, DV, Oracle Data Integration Platform, and had standing room only for the demos with OAC, DV, and Day by Day.

Geek Game Night
Sunday evening was a side-splitting good time. In the 1st annual Geek Game Night, the friendly competition of deck swapping was the place to be.

Monday BI Community Night

A great time was had at the BI Community night with Texas-style Trivia. The hats were large, the competition was fierce, and the horses were flying!

Tuesday Lunch and Learn
– Sponsored by OTN
Many individuals wished they could've been in more than one place at a time for this event. Oracle ACEs were covering BI and Reporting, Data Warehousing and Big Data, and Data Visualization and Advanced Analytics in these information-packed sessions.

Wednesday Special Event  – Sponsored by Applied OLAP, MindStream Analytics, and Vertical Edge
For ODTUG's 20th birthday, the themes were Beach Party, Masquerade Ball, Platinum Casino Party, and 80s-style Arcade. The dancing was the best!

Thursday Deep Dive Session – We heard from customers, Oracle PMs, and Consultants on "Navigating the Oracle Business Analytics Frontier' in a panel discussion. Then there was 'The Great Debate: Where Should My Data Warehouse Live?' with experts weighing in on both sides.

For some data warehouses, this is the case all year round, but not because of the late sunset and early sunrise. The night is not long enough to finish all the ETL jobs. Long-running load jobs that run for several hours are not a seldom situation. Here are 10 tips on how this can be avoided. Read more

Loading and Extracting HFM 11.1.2.4 Data with ODI Knowledge Modules
By Rodrigo Radtke

Rodrigo Radtke is a software development senior advisor at Dell and an Oracle ACE for Oracle Data Integration. In this article, Rodrigo discusses how to implement custom Knowledge Modules to address Loading and Extracting HFM 11.1.2.4 data. With HFM's latest version, Oracle removed its support for ODI. With these custom ODI KMs, companies can continue with legacy ODI/HFM integrations without the need to drastically change integration processes or add a new tool into their environment.
