EPM Community Newsletter

A Note from the EPM Community
By Deanna Sunde, Community Leader

This newsletter focuses on Kscope14, which will be bigger and better than ever. Can you believe the conference is just a month away? I am so excited and cannot wait to see you there! Be sure to register by visiting Kscope14.com.

Check out Oracle’s interview of Monty Latiolais, president of ODTUG. Monty discusses some of the not-to-be-missed events at Kscope14.

Courtney Foster encourages everyone to Step Right Up and Join the Fun on Monday night. “This year the EPM Community and Secure-24 are pleased to bring you an EPM-themed carnival. Join us for a fun-filled evening of games, popcorn, prizes, and more. Join your fellow EPM attendees for an evening of good old-fashioned fun. Whether shooting some hoops, tossing bean bags, or showing off your EPM knowledge, you’re sure to have a blast. It’s free to play, so don’t shy away!”

Want to give back? Participate in Community Service Day on Saturday, June 21. This year, we honor the nature and culture of Seattle by working to protect and restore one of its great green spaces.

As always, we would love to hear about your tips, tricks, and interesting EPM implementations to include in the SIG newsletter or ODTUG Technical Journal. Email your ideas to ODTUGHyperionSIG@gmail.com. To encourage participation, I am offering a $50 gift card to the next one accepted (ODTUG board members, Oracle ACE Directors, and Oracle ACEs not eligible).

Kscope14 Sneak Peek: The Diversity of Oracle Essbase Presentation
By Ebony Hypolite

One of my favorite tools to implement for organizations is Oracle Essbase. Once my clients get their hands on this powerful analytical tool, they fall in love with its abilities. Never again will they want to go back to the dark ages of tedious data collection and frustrating report-building efforts that were at one time performed solely in Excel. Read more.

Why Jython for FDMEE
By ACEAnthony Scalese

In the 11.1.2.3 release of the EPM stack, Oracle introduced Financial Data Quality Management, Enterprise Edition, or FDMEE. FDMEE was entirely a new product but rather a rebranding of ERP Integrator (ERPi), which was released in 11.1.1.3. FDMEE actually represents the convergence of two products – FDM (now known as FDM Classic) and ERPi – and represents the best of both products. Besides the obvious changes – a new user interface (UI) that is integrated into Workspace, leveraging Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) as its data engine and direct integration to many Oracle and SAP ERP source systems – FDMEE introduced one rather significant change: Jython as its scripting language. Obsession
By ACE DirectorCameron Lackpour

No, no, not the perfume. I mean the emotion, the motivation, the drive that makes Kscope presenters conceive and create the Kscope presentations that make Kscope, well, Kscope. Your sers are obsessed with quality, innovation, and knowledge sharing unlike any other Oracle conference. Yr. obdnt. srvnt. has been in the EPM space for (gasp, surely I cannot be that old but it is true) more than twenty years, and I have either attended or presented at Arbor Dimensions, Hyperion Solutions, and Oracle OpenWorld. Nothing I have seen or done at any of those conferences has come close to what goes into a Kscope session. Read more.

Best of the EPM Blogs
By ACE DirectorCameron Lackpour

Rather than highlight individual blog posts, this edition of the Best of the EPM Blogs is going to take a thematic approach. Sometimes an issue, problem, or feature can be addressed in a single blog post. There are also topics that are so big they simply cannot be handled in one post. Look below for this kind of work and consider what this means: a tremendous amount of knowledge freely shared, a tremendous learning opportunity for you, and quite possibly a tremendous amount of obsession on the part of the writers. Salut! Read more.
