I recently got back from our bi-annual ODTUG board meeting. One of my takeaways was to start, and form, a marketing committee to help expand and enhance ODTUG’s marketing initiatives.
The marketing committee will be led by me and fellow ODTUG board member Bambi Price. We’re looking for several people in the Oracle community to be part of this committee by bringing in their ideas and perspectives and helping to shape the future of ODTUG.
I know there are a lot of people out there that can help with this since there are a lot of people doing a lot of self-marketing already (blogs, Twitter, etc.). I’m sure some of you have some questions (including how to sign up) so I’ve put together the following mini-FAQ:
Do I need to be a member of ODTUG to join the committee? No, but you’ll probably need to become an associate member (free account) to access some of the documents on the portal.
How much time will it take? Right now we will meet once a month for 30-60 minutes. There will be some prep/research time before each meeting so it would be fair to say this will take between one and four hours of your time a month.
What’s in it for me? Here are a few reasons to join an ODTUG committee:
- Bring your ideas to the table and see their results in action
- Get to see how other people work outside of your current organization
- Networking opportunity
- Exposure to ODTUG
Who should sign up? If you’re interested in marketing then this is your opportunity. You don’t need to be a marketing guru or have any marketing background. We just want people who are willing to learn more about marketing and apply their ideas.
Will I get paid? If you accept Monopoly money, then yes ;-). This is a volunteer position and as such you will not be financially compensated.
