Is too much choice a good thing? When I travel to conferences, user groups, and customer meetings, I am often asked which development tool should be used for an upcoming project. My answer is usually, “Well...um...it depends.” Over the past few years, through various acquisitions, Oracle has gone from offering one IDE for Java EE development to three: JDeveloper, Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse, and Netbeans. In many cases, the choice between the three boils down to a combination of personal preference and the other Oracle products being developed for.
