Oracle's Application Development Framework (ADF) has become an excellent tool for creating robust applications. Part of ADF's strength is ADF Business Components (ADF BC) and its ability to build reusable database objects to support the GUI objects created using ADF Faces. ADF BC began as BC4J (Business Components for Java) and has grown steadily over the years. Using ADF BC developers may create data objects based upon database tables (including non-Oracle databases), PL/SQL output, and remote resources. Like everything in ADF, BC objects are represented by XML files and underlying Java components, and, BC objects are reusable. This session will show (and demonstrate) how to create BC objects based upon database tables including: Entity Objects, Views, Read-Only Views, and Application Modules. The power of ADF BC validation and formatting features will be discussed and demonstrated as part of the session.
