When working in a large organization, adopting a framework may be difficult and fraught with political challenges. When a business has an investment in the Oracle database or related tools, this decision can be much simpler. The APEX framework, when thought of as an extension of the database, can be an asset to any organization.
This presentation will discuss how one division of BAE Systems adopted the APEX technology and then grew its potential to work both across divisions in US businesses and as an international solution. The session will highlight some key hurdles to adoption and provide some suggestions on how to grow APEX adoption in your organization.

Purdue Pharma LP has developed and run many mission critical systems including a custom CRM system, Adverse Event Workflow Monitoring system, PMO system, public facing websites, R&D Project/pipeline management, and over thirty other applications. Currently they are adding mobile support on many of these applications and have found APEX robust in offering mobile support. They have found APEX fit greatly with their development methodology. They have also found that APEX interfaces really well with mobile technologies such as jQueryMobile and PhoneGap.

Upgrading the Fun Ships® with Oracle APEX

Carnival Cruise Line's embarkation system was designed in Oracle Forms years ago. Due to a number of factors, they needed to migrate to a more modern platform. After investigating a number of options, Carnival chose Oracle Application Express. With only a couple of days of training, a working prototype was quickly created.
The new APEX-based embarkation application interfaces with existing passport and credit card readers, which speed up the check-in process significantly, providing both cost savings and more revenue for Carnival. Carnival was able to leverage their existing staff of PL/SQL developers and their domain expertise, as very little of the existing PL/SQL code had to be changed.
