Welcome to the ODTUG Kscope19 abstract submission process! It’s the 4th day of the 10th month of 2019. With 10 tracks to submit to and up to 4 abstracts allowed per primary speaker, we are excited to open abstract submissions for this conference year!
So, what do you need to know for this year’s submission process?
First, the rules of submission have not changed:
- Our priority is showcasing the best content possible. Our content is awesome, which shows in the session evaluations and survey feedback we receive every year. Please note that we do not prioritize abstracts from the ODTUG organization, exhibitors and sponsors, or software vendors.
- Each primary speaker can submit up to four abstracts across all ten tracks. This rule applies to everyone—we do not give preferential abstract limits to certain types of ODTUG members. And when we say primary speaker, that’s what we mean. A “primary speaker” is the primary presenter of a traditional session and does not include panels, Sunday symposiums, lunch & learns, hands-on labs, unconference sessions, or Thursday deep dives.
- In addition, our mantra is to be as inclusive as possible for our abstract submissions. Are you an expert in one of ODTUG’s communities, but new to Kscope? We want you! We’re always on the lookout for new speakers. Are you an up and coming expert who has a new perspective to share? We want you, too! We pride ourselves on our mix of content. We want our attendees, no matter where they are in their career, to feel comfortable attending our conference and finding sessions that meet their needs.
- ALL accepted primary speakers receive a full complimentary registration to ODTUG Kscope19. You do not have to be a paid member of ODTUG, nor an exhibitor/sponsor to receive a full complimentary pass.
Next, we’ve made a few tweaks to the abstract form. Important items to note:
- We say this every year and we’ll say it again. The “Session Summary for Attendees” (your catchy abstract that will be published on the ODTUG Kscope19 website) should not be copied and pasted into the “Notes for Review Committee” field (which has been renamed for clarity). The “Notes for Review Committee” is a required field and should be used to relay internal comments to the Abstract Review Committee. This would include additional details about your session that are not in the catchy abstract, as well as notes about your session style (if you’re deviating from the traditional session format of lecture + Q&A and want to try something new).
- The Target Audience option has been enhanced to include more options: Beginner, Beginner to Intermediate, Intermediate, Intermediate to Advanced, Advanced, and All.
- Our tracks and subcategorizations, like every year, have been slightly tweaked. Take a look here to see this conference year’s list.
Finally, what kind of content are we looking for? The tracks speak for themselves, and we honor the communities that ODTUG created many years ago. However, we are living in a constantly changing technology landscape, so we’re keeping an eye on emerging tech and reprising that content this year. Keep the good ideas coming; we will consider every abstract that comes our way.
ODTUG Kscope19 abstract submissions close on December 5, 2018. You have two months to submit your best abstracts. We would love to consider you for our conference!
