Kscope Thank You Message From ODTUG VP Barbara Morris

Barbara Morris ODTUG VP & Monty Latiolais, ODTUG PresidentI am the guest blogger today, and for those of you who do not know me, my name is Barbara Morris. I am the newly elected vice president of the ODTUG Board. I became a member of the Board of Directors in New Orleans at Kscope 2008 when I was asked to fill an empty position. I could not have been more honored. I have always had a great deal of respect for this organization and to be asked to contribute in such a manner was very humbling. Since that time I have filled many roles; director, Seriously Practical Conference chair, secretary, and now vice president.

I have just returned from the Kscope12 conference in San Antonio, TX, and want to send out a few words of thanks to all the attendees. This community is the best group of people you could ever hope to be associated with, and you make learning at the conference so fun. I always look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones at each conference. I love talking with all of you and getting your input on sessions and activities.

I think the best part of this conference is all the networking that is available each year. Everywhere you look you see attendees sitting down in little cubby holes discussing issues and resolutions to those issues. It always amazes me how much can be accomplished in just a little time sitting at a lunch table or finding a little hidden corner.

I am already looking forward to Kscope13 in New Orleans. As I already mentioned, this is the city where I first became a member of the Board. It is also the location of ODTUG’s first community service day, so it brings back a lot great memories. I cannot wait to see what the community service day event will be this year. Plan on coming a day early so you can participate. I’m also looking forward to seeing what sessions will be available. As you are all aware this is the conference where you get access to some of the best information in your field. And I must mention the food. Kscope is known for its food and I cannot wait to see what is served. I am hoping we get some Beignets―I think my diet can take a least one, maybe two!

Hope you all had a safe trip home, and I am looking forward to seeing you again next year.
