APEX 5: What Are My Report Printing Options?
Lino Schildenfeld, APEX R'n'D
Now that APEX 5 is not a new thing anymore, when it comes to printing or exporting your data from your applications we still encounter the same challenges. What is the best tool for the job? Is there any freeware software that we can use? How do you decide which one to go with, especially if you are new to Oracle Application Express, etc.? We all ask ourselves this on regular basis, and this presentation will go through current available options that are on the market and how well they integrate with APEX 5. After all, being up to date with new and upcoming technologies can make our lives as developers a lot easier.

Accelerating DevOps Using Data Virtualization
Tim Gorman, Delphix
DevOps is streamlining the movement of IT systems from development through testing into operations. The biggest constraint preventing this way of doing things is data. Databases and application stacks have grown enormous. Provisioning environments for each developer or tester become unrealistic when each environment might be hundreds of terabytes in size and agile methods require new environments every two weeks. And so developers and testers end up crowding into shared environment subsets that are refreshed only every few months, if at all.
Data virtualization is a solution for that data constraint. Now it is possible to provide each developer and tester with a complete private read-write image of the full application stack and database for each task and project, regardless of size. Provisioning full environments effortlessly allows developers and testers to work concurrently on different tasks with all the resources they need and the ability to version entire environment as well as their code changes. Agile development methods, using DevOps techniques for continuous delivery of higher-quality systems, require data virtualization as a tool as much as they require other tools such as Chef, Puppet, VMware, VirtualBox, or Rally.
This presentation will describe the data constraint and its impacts on IT, and then it will explain the solution, including the details of how data virtualization works. The attendee will probably recognize the impacts of the data constraint in their work.

OBIEE 12c and the Leap Forward in Lifecycle Management
Stewart Bryson, Red Pill Analytics
One reason that OBIEE projects regularly languish between design and delivery is the product's historical lack of concrete lifecycle and deployment capabilities. Whether adopting manual lifecycle processes or scripting complex deployments, these solutions usually yield mixed results but always highlight one clear conclusion: We need change.
With the newest release of OBIEE 12c, change has finally arrived. This session will detail the new BI Application Archive (BAR) file and its role in smoother migrations and increased developer productivity. We'll take a peek under the covers at a new flexible, container-like architecture that makes the creation and application of these BAR files simple but also provides enhanced lifecycle capabilities throughout.

Being a Leader in the Tech Field
Sarah Zumbrum, interRel Consulting
In the Information Age, our questions are answered almost as quickly as we hit the “Enter” button on our keyboard in Google. However, not all answers are as trustworthy as others. We all have our go-to sites and people for quality answers, but how did they get to the point of being the authority on the subject? How did they get to be a leader in their field? This talk will discuss different tech leaders, what made them stand out in their field, and how you can stand out in your field amongst giants.

Securing Your APEX Applications with SERT
Scott Spendolini, Sumner Technologies
SERT, formerly sold as a commercial product called eSERT, is an open-source, freely available APEX application that is designed to evaluate the security of your existing APEX applications. Designed to be integrated into your development process, SERT looks for security vulnerabilities that fall into five major classifications: application settings, page settings, SQL injection, cross-site scripting, and URL tampering.
This webinar will discuss and demonstrate SERT 5, which has been redesigned from the ground up, to take advantage of the new Universal Theme in APEX 5. It will cover where to get SERT from, how to install and configure it, and how to use it. It will also highlight some security best practices and how SERT can help enforce them.

Manage Your ODI Development Cycle
Jérôme Françoisse, Rittman Mead
Oracle Data Integrator 12c is a powerful ELT tool with the ability to target different environments. It might be the traditional development, test, and production environments, but there can be much more. Having a good release process is therefore important to ensure ongoing development doesn't impact the code running in production and that we can always go back to a previous version of the code if something goes wrong. We also want to have different developers or teams working concurrently without impacting each other. All of this is now easier than before, thanks to the new features introduced in ODI 12.2.1. After looking at different architectures, we will review all these new features and see how we can have a robust and efficient development cycle.
