Introduction to Breadboard Circuits and I/O for Raspberry Pi!
Jeremy Harms, EmeraldCube Solutions

Grab an old broken radio and whip out your trusty MacGyver Swiss Army knife. Buy $5 worth of electronic components. Rummage up a 9V battery and jack in a #2 pencil. Read the instructions; plug it all up. Draw a line on some paper, and touch it with your finger to become part of your circuit – you’re now literally drawing with sound! Drawing + audio = the Drawdio circuit.

  • Breadboard circuits 101
  • Tools of the trade
  • Reading schematics and building circuits – Drawdio circuit demo!
  • Physical computing I/O example – integrate a circuit with Raspberry Pi pins

How to Make FDMEE-Triggered Essbase Calculation and Partition Scripts Targeted to Current FDMEE Load
Bernard Ash, EPM Clarity

Part One of a Two-Part Series – Fix Your FDMEE Essbase Loads

Optimize FDMEE performance with Essbase by making all your operations more focused. When your customer’s requirements ask you to use FDMEE to load over 800,000 records per entity for one month, convert YTD to MTD, convert local currency to USD, and then push to an ASO reporting cube, it’s time to time to break out the big guns. Large data volumes or not, why not parameterize ALL your FDMEE-driven calc scripts based on the entities that are in a given load file? Why not do the same with a partition script that refreshes the data to a reporting cube after it has been loaded and calc’d in BSO? In this live, hands-on demo, we will use Jython to identify the distinct entities in a given data load (TDATASEG table) and pass these entities to a MaxL script to manage the focus of the calcs and partition scripts. This functionality is live at Cigna.

How to Make FDMEE-Triggered Essbase Calculation and Partition Scripts Targeted to Current FDMEE Load
Bernard Ash, EPM Clarity

Part Two of a Two-Part Series – Liberate ASO Procedural Calcs from Admin Ownership

Make ASO procedural calcs runnable by end users from Smart View. We can do this, thanks to the Calc Manager CDF – MaxLScriptFunction – which allows us to run a MaxL script from a calculation script/business rule. There are many use cases for this that will be discussed in this webinar. Another popular use case allows a user to trigger a BSO calc and then subsequently refresh a partition to push the BSO calc results to an ASO reporting cube.

The Perfect Pair: PBCS with BICS Is Like Peanut Butter and Jelly
Jenish Parekh, Matt Gualtieri, and Shreeram Sharma, Saturn Infotech

With Oracle’s Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS), you can create rolling forecasts and analyze variances and what-if scenarios. When paired with Oracle’s Business Intelligence Cloud Service (BICS), users can bridge the gap between reality and planning. This demonstration will cover the ways in which combining PBCS and BICS can optimize the planning, reporting, and analysis process of any size and type of business. Learn how, when used in unison, the two applications can help business owners and finance departments align strategy with business objectives, quickly adapt to change, and make informed decisions. PBCS without BICS is like peanut butter without jelly: They can stand alone, but when paired together they create something great!

Learning objectives:

Typically, the two applications PBCS and BICS are used and implemented in disconnect. They are marketed as separate solutions, each with their respective benefits. However, PBCS and BICS can be employed side by side to help achieve financial transparency, something that can fall short when a business goes with one or the other. PBCS and BICS can help align strategy with business objectives, leverage information to make informed decisions, and bridge the gap between reality and planning.

Understanding and Using Essbase Web Services
Dayalan Punniyamoorthy, Vertical Edge

Services on cloud is the new mantra driving most of the Oracle EPM component to be accessed via the cloud. Of course, Essbase We Services are not excluded from the list. They were introduced as a new feature in 11.1.2.2, as silent unnoticed functionality.

Essbase Web Services will expose Essbase user and administrative functionality in a services-oriented (SOA) environment via Provider Services and allow Essbase to be easily integrated with both Oracle and third-party applications.

Essbase Web Services include the following modules:

  • Datasource
  • Administration
  • Data and metadata

In this webinar, we will discuss how to get started with Essbase Web services and explore the variety of functionalities they offer us. Don’t miss this webinar if you want to learn a bit more about Essbase Web Services and how to customize them to meet your requirements.

Save Time with FDM to FDMEE Migration Utility
Bernard Ash, EPM Clarity

Do you want to upgrade to FDMEE but you’re too afraid of the large number of FDM artifacts you have in FDM (locations, data load rules, import formats, validation rules, validation entities, etc.)? It would be very time-consuming and therefore expensive and error-prone to migrate all those artifacts from FDM to FDMEE. The bad news is that artifacts such as custom reports and VBScripts will not be migrated; you will have to convert those artifacts by hand. However, the vast majority of your standard artifacts such as locations, data load rules, import formats, mappings, etc. can be migrated using Oracle’s FDM to FDMEE migration utility that Oracle released last fall. The migration utility is implemented using ODI but with a little coaching; even if you don’t know ODI, you could take what would ordinarily be a six-month migration/“upgrade” effort and condense that into a one- to two-month effort. Also, if there is enough time, we could give you an introductory tutorial on how to convert VBScript to Jython and/or how to create a custom report in FDMEE. This will be a live, hands-on demo.

FDMEE Smart Replace for HFM
Bernard Ash, EPM Clarity

While HFM clears the entities in your current load file, it will not clear entities that were loaded previously. A clear of entities from a previous load could be required if someone books some transactions incorrectly (for example, to the wrong entities) and they flow through to HFM. Smart Replace will catch and clear ALL entities (even from previous loads) and by doing so will save customers from many hours of digging to find out why their data doesn't tie. Many thanks to Tony Scalese for writing the first generation of this Smart Replace module in VBScript, but this demo and code are by EPM Clarity in Jython for FDMEE compatibility. It is in production at Chevron.
