Volunteering and ODTUG

glenn_schwartzbergNext up for my blog was a chance to talk with Glenn Schwartzberg, fellow Oracle ACE and member of the ODTUG Hyperion SIG. Glenn has attended the past three ODTUG Kaleidoscope events (and is looking forward to this year’s Kscope just as much if not more).

MR: What’s the best thing about Kscope conferences?

GS: “The indepth knowledge of the presentations. They are not fluff and marketing but are packed full of information, tips, tricks, and useful ideas.”

MR: Who do you most look forward to seeing a presentation from at Kscope and why?

GS: “This is a tough question. There are so many good presenters attending. Three stand outs are Edward RoskeTracy McMullen andCameron Lackpour. In addition to being extremely knowledgeable,Edward is extremely entertaining to watch. Tracy has such a vast knowledge of multiple products.Cameron always has great information to share.”

MR: Why Kscope and not somewhere else?

GS: “This is the one conference where I have been able to learn the most in the least amount of time. The brain store behind the sessions is amazing. In addition, there is so much packed into the conference activities. I enjoy having a lot of fun as well.”

MR: Have you ever been to Long Beach or visited the Queen Mary?

GS: “I live in Southern California and have been to Long Beach on several occasions. I’ve seen weddings, bag pipe competitions, and other events occurring aboard the Queen Mary. Long Beach is a great city. There are a lot of things to do and for those out-of-towners, it is close enough toDisneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm that they could have the family join them at the end of the conference and make a mini vacation out of it. Me, I’ll just be going home to mow the lawn.”

MR: Your all time favorite Kscope moment was…

GS: “…the first Kscope that invited the Hyperion folks in.  150+ people in one room for 4 days with so much awesome material that my head was spinning by the end of each day. From other years, the extras like the Hyperion Midnight Madness, Ask the Oracle ACE, and Hyperion Jeopardy. I understand the Hyperion event is planned to be another great gathering.”

Thanks Glenn!
