If you could describe ODTUG in ten words or less, what would they be?

A welcoming collaboration of like-minded people sharing technical knowledge.

What is your motivation for joining the board?

Although well known for getting involved and making a contribution to the Hyperion and related communities in UK, EMEA and Australia, now that we have established an office in the US, I am looking for an opportunity to do the same here. My experience has taught me that the best way to get to be part of a community is to serve it.

What attributes do you feel you would provide to this position?

I am an experienced business man, having operated in large multi-national retail as well as having successfully started up and run a four-continent consulting company. I would bring a wide breadth of commercial experience to the party, and a willingness to bring my skills and organizational capabilities to bear in service of the ODTUG community.

• Do you have a principal goal you would like to achieve as a board member?

I have only one goal and that is to make a contribution to a community that I have benefited from and enjoyed greatly for the past four years.

If you could describe ODTUG in ten words or less, what would they be?

The best Oracle user group ever, anywhere. Period.

What is your motivation for joining the board?

I've been involved with ODTUG since it embraced Hyperion, working in a variety of volunteer roles, and have done just about everything one can do—from stuffing bags at Kscope to being the conference co-chair. I have further ideas for the organization that can only be realized at the board level.

What attributes do you feel you would provide to this position?

I embrace hard work when a tangible goal is in sight. Put a love of ODTUG together with a hard worker who finds time, somehow, to get things done, and the result is a board member who will be an effective advocate for all ODTUG members.

• Do you have a principal goal you would like to achieve as a board member?

Many of the Oracle vendors/partners are still not active participants in ODTUG. My primary goal is to identify, recruit, and engage these vendors to grow ODTUG and Kscope to its logical next level.

If you could describe ODTUG in ten words or less, what would they be?

Oracle community for developers who want to learn.

• What is your motivation for joining the board?

Over the years, ODTUG has given me the opportunity to grow in various aspects of my career. I think it's important to continue this pattern and help others in the community.

• What attributes do you feel you would provide to this position?

I have gotten to know and network with a lot of people in the Oracle community. When I speak to people at conferences or over email, I am able to connect them with the right people or do my best to open doors for them. This may be as simple as getting them in contact with a particular expert to answer their question or helping them with some questions about their own presentations.

Do you have a principal goal you would like to achieve as a board member?

My overall goal is to do everything possible to help our members achieve their professional goals. Their goals are unique to each individual. If our members are better people because of ODTUG, I consider this a success.

What is your motivation for joining the board?

ODTUG is one of the best places for EPM consultants because it offers members the opportunity to participate in a thriving community where they can collaborate, contribute, learn, and have fun. As one who has benefited greatly from ODTUG, I'd like to work with other board members to further market ODTUG as a resource, increase membership, and promote the educational opportunities offered both online and through Kscope.

I bring a combination of strong leadership skills, broad EPM experience, and exposure across all industries gained from more than fifteen years as a technical Hyperion consultant.

• If you could describe ODTUG in ten words or less, what would they be?

In no particular order: Kscope, Educational, Networking, Technology, Cutting-edge, Leaders, Strategic, Influential, Communication, and definitely Fun.

• What is your motivation for joining the board?

People who know me can tell you how passionate I am. Not only about my work and Hyperion products and solutions, but also just about everything else I do. Every day, I continue to gain a lot from ODTUG, Kscope, and all of the people I have met within this community. I want to channel my passion back to ODTUG, back to this community, to volunteer my time to help to make ODTUG and Kscope bigger, better, and more far reaching than it is today.

• What attributes do you feel you would provide to this position?

My experiences as an entrepreneur, solution architect, developer, consultant, user, customer, client, instructor, presenter, and mentor domestically and internationally, together with my passion, creativity, motivation, work ethic, and realistic outlook will allow me to contribute and serve as a volunteer on the board with empathy and imagination.

• Do you have a principal goal you would like to achieve as a board member?

I would like to get more people involved, whether through surveys, focus groups, committees, webinars, or other means, both domestically and internationally. Greater member involvement will provide additional facts and figures to assist in decision making. Examples include analyzing data (how many members view the webinars?) and soliciting input (of these three cities, which would you prefer for the next Kscope?). The board members can then use this data and become the voice of the membership to strategically plan the future of ODTUG, not just for next year but for years to come.

• If you could describe ODTUG in ten words or less, what would they be?

A community of Oracle professionals sharing their knowledge and experiences.

• What is your motivation for joining the board?

I'm a big believer in paying things forward. Early in my career, I benefitted greatly from the technical journal and from participating in the list servs. While the technical journal has gone digital and tweets have in large part replaced list servs, I'd like to believe I'm providing that same benefit to a new generation of ODTUGers.

• What attributes do you feel you would provide to this position?

I'm a people person. If you've attended a Kscope conference, it's likely we've met. It's just as likely we're on a first-name basis. It's that interaction with the membership I enjoy most and it's what keeps me coming back time and again.

• Do you have a principal goal you would like to achieve as a board member?

What has made ODTUG special through the years is a real sense of community and a sense of belonging. Our challenge is to continue to grow the organization without losing those qualities that attracted us in the first place.

Oracle technology geeks unite to teach and learn from each other.

• What is your motivation for joining the board?

I wanted to join the ODTUG board to give a voice two underrepresented groups: Women in high-tech and Oracle developers of traditional tools (Oracle Forms / Reports). I am especially eager to help ODTUG enrich the development community to adopt next generation technologies, such as ADF, JDeveloper, mobile, and cloud.

• What attributes do you feel you would provide to this position?

Throughout my career, I have played many roles that have given me the perspective needed to successfully lead ODTUG. I have conducted business development on behalf of Hyperion, led a BI, DW, big data, and EPM group in cutting-edge web search space, and I am currently leading a premier consulting organization focused on Oracle BI/EPM.
