Firstly, we will show you how you can create a star schema with Generation reference and with exception handling. We will discuss minischema, dimension elements, hierarchies and Essbase model creation. We will also show how everything comes together with Drill-Through reports. Secondly, we will demonstrate how you can achieve the same using a Parent-Child build. We will be using examples from our past implementations and discussing how to optimize custom SQL statements for the drill-through for variance analysis. We will contrast the two approaches and discuss the pros and cons of each.
Next, we will discuss the nightly refresh process and slicing for the incremental load process. Finally, we will discuss automated maintenance of an Essbase Studio implementation.
