Have you ever been to a job interview that didn’t go that well? Have you ever interviewed a DBA or a DB developer and didn’t know what questions to ask? An interview is an integral part of being employed, and it’s very different from one company and interviewer to another, but the goal is the same: to get a feel for the candidate and see if the candidate is a good fit for the position.

As a DBA consultant and past manager of a team of professional services DBAs, I have both interviewed and been interviewed myself many times. In this session I will present my view on interviewing (or being interviewed) for a DBA or DB developer position, questions I like to ask and why, what I’m happy (and less happy) to hear from the other side, and how to respond to certain situations as a candidate.
