Kscope15 Sessions:
Start Your Planning Now!

Many of our talented ODTUG members anxiously anticipate the Call for Papers every year. From the last day of the conference, many of you are already thinking of topics for the next year! The Content Committee is always so excited by the number of terrific submissions.

Last fall, as usual, we were flooded with hundreds of abstracts to be considered for the program. Many weeks were spent reviewing and discussing the abstracts; it was an incredibly difficult job to narrow the list down to about 135 for our EPM sessions. It is always wonderful and at the same time challenging to receive so many well presented topics from our members.

In This Issue

This year, our EPM sessions are broken down into six tracks: Essbase, Planning, Financial Close, EPM Business Content, EPM Foundations and Data Management, and EPM Reporting. The sessions selected give a wide variety of topics and knowledge levels from which to choose. There are sessions being presented by a wide variety of people including customers, those in the Oracle ACE program, consultants, and Oracle employees.

Don’t wait until you get to Kscope15 to pick the sessions you want to attend. Planning ahead will help you make the most of your time at the conference. There’s so much to see and do once you get there; don’t waste valuable networking and learning time planning your schedule. The time to start planning is now! Read more.

Hyperion Financial Management The Need for Speed!
By Chris Barbieri, Finit Solutions

Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. It may be pure coincidence that in February, Oracle delivered the latest release of with perhaps the boldest step yet in its 15-year history: platform independence. It is not coincidence, but rather through concerted effort by the Oracle development team, that this release is the fastest on record. Read more.

EPM Olympics Sponsored by Secure-24

Oracle EPMers from around the globe will be taking over Hollywood, Florida…not just for Kscope15 but to compete in the first-ever EPM Olympics sponsored by Secure-24, to be held on Monday, June 22, as part of Kscope15’s Community Night!

Don’t be fooled into thinking these “nerds” or “geeks” can only outmaneuver an opponent with their dashing intellect. Quite the contrary – in fact, these talented individuals can dominate in any arena! Consider the EPM Olympics at Kscope15 just another way the EPM Community members can display their pure talent. Athletes will have a series of grueling games in which to compete, most involving bean bags and hula hoops. We all do sit at desks most of the time, so no biathlon at these games!

In true EPM fashion, we would also love to encourage EPMers to sport their “nerd” pride by wearing their favorite nerd-themed shirt; It is, of course, optional, but those who do show up will be competing for the Gold Medal in Nerd Attire.

Stay tuned to all things Kscope15 for continued updates on this epic first-ever EPM Olympics sponsored by Secure-24.

Let's Make It a Twitter-sation

When you’re at Kscope15 in June, don’t forget to post and tweet using the #orclEPM hashtag. This will allow all of your fellow EPMers to easily keep track of what’s happening around the conference! Also, remember to use the hashtag throughout the year to share blogs, tweets, and other helpful information with the community. We love to retweet posts to get the information to more users!

Can’t get enough of Twitter?!? You can now subscribe to all of the ODTUG communities via Twitter. How cool is that? The EPM blog can be found at @orclepmblogs. Check this link for the rest of them and more information about how they work.

Drillbridge: Is It for You?
By Chris Rothermel, Rothermel Consulting

Recently, our own Chris Rothermel had an opportunity to interview Jason Jones about his latest creation, Drillbridge. Unique to ODTUG members, Jason’s demo recording is available for replay as well as a white paper for download. Jason will be presenting on this topic at Kscope15.

CR: What is Drillbridge?

JJ: Drillbridge is a turnkey solution for quickly and easily implementing drill-through to relational database data from Smart View, Hyperion Planning, and Financial Reporting.

CR: So if I have Oracle Hyperion Planning or Essbase I’d be interested in this? Read more.
